My name is Kelsea Schafer, the senior editor-in-chief of the Hoover High School Caravel Yearbook program. I have contributed photographs to over 70 publications and recently had an article I wrote about Jalen Milroe's youth football camp published in Hoover's Magazine. Alongside my publishing achievements, I have gained experience photographing in the collegiate sports photography scene as a high schooler, receiving opportunities to cover Samford University, UAB, Conference USA, Mississippi State, The University of Montevallo, to even The University of Alabama's Million Dollar Band.Â
My time with the Hoover High School Yearbook has helped me grow not only as a student but as a journalist and photojournalist. Ever since I could walk, I have always had a camera in my hand and a love for journalism in my heart. Â
Every decision I have made has been with the ultimate goal of attending The University of Alabama and pursuing journalism. Â I am proud to say that I will be attending The University of Alabama in the fall, majoring in News Media, and furthering my photography passion with the Crimson Tide Photographers team. Â
I am so incredibly proud of the achievements that I have earned and cultivated thus far, and I know that when I begin my studies at UA, the opportunities are endless and will help me grow further.Â
I thank you for taking the time to read my portfolio and for consideration of me for the applicable senior awards and Alabama Journalist of the Year.Â
I thank you for your consideration of Kelsea Schafer for the Alabama Scholastic Press Awards. For the past four years, I have dedicated my time to photography, journalism, and growing the yearbook program at Hoover High School. Your support of me and consideration of me is beyond appreciated, more than you may realize.
I thank you for considering me, Kelsea Schafer, for the ASPA Senior Awards.
